Anne McCaffrey

Anne McCaffrey (1926-2011) was a pioneering American science fiction and fantasy author, best known for her Dragonriders of Pern series. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she became the first woman to win both Hugo and Nebula Awards. McCaffrey’s innovative blend of science fiction and fantasy, featuring telepathically bonded dragons and riders, captivated readers worldwide. Her prolific career spanned over 100 books, earning her the title of Grand Master from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2005. Living in Ireland for much of her later life, McCaffrey’s imaginative storytelling inspired generations of readers and writers, establishing her as a key figure in speculative fiction.
