Terry Brooks is an acclaimed American fantasy author best known for launching the epic Shannara series. Born on January 8, 1944, in Sterling, Illinois, Brooks revolutionized modern fantasy literature with his debut novel “The Sword of Shannara” in 1977, becoming the first fantasy author to appear on the trade paperback bestseller list.
